When I first slipped this t-shirt on I thought, "This must be how a vintage tee felt new."
The boat neck style, modest yet dramatic, originated in France as the striped undershirt provided to the French navy in the 1850s. The neckline is also shaped like a boat, so the name "bateau neck" just stuck. In the 1930s, the bateau neck swept through the fashion world, popular especially with the artists and thinkers leading culture down a more free and expressive path.
Today, the swooping neckline elevates the t-shirt and can easily be styled with most bottoms.
Also available in a lighter weight, undyed naturally brown jersey.
